Journal Entry #122

A wise woman, my grandmother, once said, “Anything worth having is hard work.” Do you agree or disagree with this statement? What connections to your own life can you make from it?

I agreee!!! In order to have the things you want in life you have to work for them. Not everything is give to you. Atleast not to most people. If I want something I struggle to get it. I’m very independent and I hate asking people for help.

  2.    Barbara Coker:

I agree. You need to work hard for what you get.
I teach my children to work hard everyday because
if you don’t you will get nowhere in life!

  3.    Kim Griggs:

I agree! If you are going to have something in life I would rather work for it then have someone give it to me. Personally, it makes me feel good to work and have my own money to buy things that I want to buy. Also, I think it is really responsible and mature to work for what you have and have nice things and let everyone see that you can really have anything you want as long as you work for it.

  4.    Christy Dodd:

I AGREE! Things in life that you work hard for make you appreciate them more. In life if you do not work hard you will not ever have anything. Things should not be handed to everyone on a silver platter. I have worked very hard for what I have and I feel that everyone else should have to do the same.

I agree with the statement that “anything worth having is hard work”. My dad taught me that if I want something, I have to take it with hard work. I have learned that no one will give you what you want, every goal takes hard work to achieve. By living m life this way, I feel that I earn a sense of accomplishment with every goal I meet.

I agree, because most of everything I have ever bought was with my own hard earned money and now that I am an adult, I have nothing handed to me. Which is the way it should be in order to successfuly go through life. Everybody should work for what they have and what they want. Everybody is gunna end up working for a living anyways, so why not start now.

  7.    Bethany Daniel:

I highly agree. If everything is giving to you or is easy you don’t respect it as much. I seem to have more pride for things I work hard for.

  8.    Nancy Eggersdorf:

I believe that you need to put effort into getting the things in life that mean something. This can apply to a career that will give you financial security, a marriage that brings you happiness, or raising children to be good people.

I agree with the statement “Anything worth having is hard work”. When I graduated from high school, I was tired and wanted a break from school. In all my great wisdom of eighteen years, I decided to take it easy. I did work a full time job and eventually made enough money to support myself. Today I wish someone would have kicked me in the butt! I am forty-three years old and realize now that without a college education, supporting oneself in today’s world is nearly impossible. I look forward with eyes open wide to the hard work it is going to take to get my degree. I work two full time jobs. My first job is my family and home. My second job is working as a Para pro. I have come to the cold realization that if my husband dies or is injured and unable to work, that I will have to support my family. Peace of mind and security do not come easily to most people; they are also definitely worth having!

I strongly agree with the statement. I feel live is what you make of it. You will not get anywere if you feel things will be handed to you. It takes hard work and dedacation to get places in life. If you truly want something you will not care if it takes a little hard work to get there.

  11.    James Walden:

I disagree!! In our fast paced dog eat dog world, Americans have found the secret to a good living. That is the short-cut! The New American Way! Why work when you can sue? Why try to improve when you can lanquish in your self made mediocrity? Why work hard and bust tail when your job will be outsourced to Mexico for 3 pesos a day?

  12.    Cheri German:

I agree with this statement. You have to work hard to accomplish what you want to in your life; and in your career. The first time I worked as a Med. Asst. I worked hard and learned something new everyday. Hopefully this time when I work as a Med. Asst. I’ll be more qualified and work even harder to earn a better living. To some people this may come very easy; but to me it’s very hard work. It’ll pay off someday; I’m sure.

  13.    Chris Harbin:

I agree that anything worth having is hard work.Growing up with two sister,we did not always get what we wanted. The special things we got we had to work for.I believe having to work for something make you appreciate it more.

  14.    Darlene Beckworth:

I agree with the statement”‘Anything worth having is hard work”. You appreciate things more when you have to work hard for them. I am a Faciltiies Manager and I have had to work hard at it because I don’t have a degree in that field.

  15.    jeremy foster:

I do agree with the statement. If you want somthing in this world, most of the time you have to work to get it. Very rarly is life just given to you. If it has, the people that came before you work hard to get to that point. If you started out life with everything you needed it would be a dull place. Improving and working to the highest value of life, is called living.

  16.    Kimberly Turner:

I agree with your grandmother. Grandmothers are very wise people allot of people may say it’s because they have been around longer, but in the truth of it all I have to work in order to have a car, clothes, and to be able to come to school. I’ve had to work really hard to get where I am in life, I am steal in school this year is my last and by the time I graduate High school I’m hoping in the Fall I’ll get to go into the cosmetology program. Also, it’s taken allot of hard work and I also look up to those who are going to school and have a family at home.

  17.    Evelyn Sandiford:

I agree with this statement, to a degree. I worked hard for 23 years to keep a happy marriage, but in the end it takes two to make it work. Now what is worth having to me, is my education. That is what I will work hard for.

  18.    Michael Gramling:

That statement is very true. I know that I can’t be successful unless I at least try to educate myself. My goal of owning my business one day will not come through for me unless I can prove to my customers that I will get the job done. Having certification will certainly back me up.

  19.    JP:

I strongley agree if you do not work for somthing then you dont tend to apresiate things in life. Then u start to depend on someone to help you get every thing and in the end you end up taking it for granted.

  20.    Brittney Jenks:

I agree with the previous statement. I feel that if you have not worked hard to get what you have, then you have not earned it. I apply this philosophy to my everyday life. I have a house of my dreams. However, the payment is pretty steep! I have to work very hard and work long hours to be able to make ends meet. Also, I am married to a wonderful man. Although, at times we do not “gee and haa.” We must work to keep our marraige going and for both of us to be happy.

  21.    Jason Deppa:

If you want something bad enough you will get it, and trust me it wont be easy. If getting what you want was easy then you would have nothing to try to strive for. I work hard at learning everything i can, so i can live my dream. I know it is not going to be easy, it hasnt yet. But one day i will reach my goal.

  22.    Vince:

At some point and time this was probably a very true statement, but now I am not too sure. Sometimes I think nowadays the harder you work at something, the harder someone else tries to take it away. That is the reason I very rarely ask someone for anything, because it almost always has a price, a high price. That’s probably why I am very independent.
